Ways we handle attic air sealing
Sealant and foam on small gaps
Caulk and one-part spray foam fill the cracks around pipes, wires, the tops of walls and the hatch, the small leaks that add up across an attic floor.
Blocking for big openings
Big holes, like the open box over kitchen cabinets, get solid blocking sealed in place, and hot flues get metal blocking with a collar around them.
What does attic air sealing do for a house in Bell?
Attic air sealing in Bell closes the gaps through your attic floor, around pipes, wires, lights and the hatch, so hot attic air stays out of your rooms, your power bill has a chance to come down and moisture is less likely to build up in the attic.
Most people call us because the rooms under the attic run hot, the house feels drafty or the power bill won't budge, and the cause is often air moving through gaps you can't see from below. The price turns on how many openings your attic has, how hard they are to reach and what has to be fixed or pulled out first, and the schedule turns on those same repairs and on whether you're adding attic insulation in the same job. Once I've been up there, you get the price in writing.
Attic air sealing and the prep around it
I decide what your attic needs by going up and looking, then we fix what stops the job, seal what leaks and leave open what's meant to breathe.
Check what stops the job
I check the attic for old wiring, roof leaks and bath fans dumping into the attic, because those get fixed before we seal.
Pull back the old insulation
We move old insulation off the leaks, and anything soaked or full of droppings comes out instead of getting buried under new fill.
Seal the gaps, cover the cans
We seal around pipes, wires, flues and the hatch, and put covers over can lights that aren't rated to touch insulation.
Keep vents clear, then insulate
With eave and ridge vents clear, we add retrofit insulation on the sealed floor, or spray foam insulation where ducts run up there.
Why homeowners hire us to seal and insulate
I started this business in Bell in 2020 after years on insulation crews around Los Angeles. We're known for doing the prep and the sealing before anything else, and for telling you straight what your attic actually needs.
You deal with the owner
I'm the one up in your attic before you get a price, so the person who saw your space is the one answering your questions about it.
Told when the attic isn't ready
I'd rather tell you to fix a roof leak first than take your money for sealing that won't hold, because insulation over open gaps or wet framing is money thrown away.
Licensed, insured and clean when we leave
We're licensed and insured. Our crew works safe in tight, hot attics and cleans up around the hatch and the rooms below before they head out.
What happens after you call about attic air sealing in Bell?
We plan the job around what your attic needs and when you can have us there, and nothing gets sealed until the problems that stop the job are handled.

Questions about sealing your attic
What is the best way to seal and insulate an attic in Bell?
Seal first, then insulate. National energy guidance has you close the holes through the attic floor and put insulation in only after the sealing is done. If new insulation is already on your list, that same guidance says to make the sealing the first step of that job for the most energy savings, and that's how we schedule it.
What attic problems need fixing before air sealing?
A national guide lists active knob and tube wiring, which is the old system of wires run on porcelain knobs, vermiculite insulation, bathroom fans vented into the attic, a leaking roof and unvented kerosene heaters or gas fireplaces as problems that stop the work. Those repairs come before any sealing. If I find one, I'll tell you what has to happen first.
Is it safe to air seal an attic if I have a gas water heater or furnace?
It can be, as long as the safety checks come first. For gas furnaces, water heaters or boilers that vent up a natural draft chimney, which relies on hot exhaust rising on its own, national guidance calls for combustion air from outside, a backdraft test and carbon monoxide detectors. It names swapping those appliances for sealed combustion, induced draft or power-vented models as the best approach, and we leave combustion air ducts open when we seal.
How much does attic air sealing cost in Bell?
Your price is set by your attic, mostly the number of gaps, how easy they are to reach and what has to be fixed or pulled out first, and you get it in writing after I've looked. Doing the sealing in the same trip as new insulation usually costs less than two separate jobs, since the old insulation only gets moved once. Sealing plus a top-up of loose fill also usually comes in under spray foam, and unless your ducts run through the attic, that's the route I'd pick.
How do I know if attic air sealing worked?
A blower door test, a fan set in a doorway that pulls air out of the house so leaks show up, done as part of a whole-house energy test may help show whether the duct and flue openings into the attic got sealed. Ask us whether your job includes that test before you sign.
Can I skip air sealing and just add more insulation to my attic?
You can, but insulation slows heat without stopping air, so gaps around lights, pipes and the hatch keep leaking right through the new layer. Sealing first lets the insulation you pay for do what it's supposed to.
Other attic and insulation work
Retrofit insulation
If your house already has some insulation, a retrofit adds to what's there or replaces the worn parts without tearing into finished walls and ceilings.

Foam fills and seals in one pass, which earns its higher price when your ducts or air handler sit up in a hot attic.

Attic air sealing in Bell and the cities nearby
The City of Bell requires building permits for many projects, and its list names work like new buildings, fences, fireplaces and signs but not attic air sealing, so that list alone doesn't settle whether your job needs one. We check with the city's building office before we start, and you can ask them yourself at (323) 588-6211 or BuildingandSafety@cityofbell.org. If your job needs a permit, we pull it. California lets someone work without a contractor's license on jobs up to $1,000 only when the job needs no permit and they have nobody working for them, so anyone bringing a crew into your attic needs a license.
We're based in Bell and do this work across the cities around it and in county areas like East Los Angeles and Walnut Park, where permit rules aren't the same as Bell's, so we check with the office for your address. A lot of the attics we open around here are in older houses, with thin, dusty insulation and can lights and bath fans that were never sealed or vented right.
